Dust doesn’t settle well from project in Newport square

Newport Mayor Stephen Tice did not mince words at a Newport Borough Council meeting over the actions of Marysville-based Ben Smith Services. He had issued the contractor a pair of $600 fines and recommended council prohibit them from further business in the borough for the next year.Tice said Smith Services, which has been conducting façade rehabilitation on the senior living facilities around the square, “did not respect the borough, its citizen nor its ordinances.”
